WILDLIFE ID SKILLS

blue tit.jpg

With lots of us now spending more time in nature and focusing on what we can find close to home, why not brush up on your wildlife ID skills along the way?

Learn some common wildlife ID, such as garden birds, flowers and insects. These will come in handy for when you’re wildlife spotting out of your window or on during your daily exercise, and you can get back outside and explore more areas or visit your local nature reserve!

WHERE TO START

  • The RSPB have a great bird identifier page, and Wildlife Trusts have got lots of other common species covered.

  • Conservationist ‘Lucy Lapwing’ hosts a great “Bird Song of the Day” segment with tips on how to identify common bird song.

  • There are also plenty of books and apps available to get you started.

RESEARCH ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPAIGNS AND TOPICS

During this time, many groups and organisations will still be working behind the scenes to ensure that environmental and climate issues still get the focus they need.

You could use this time to learn more about the environmental issues that still need tackling and the different organisations working to achieve solutions to these issues. Find a topic that interests you, and you may even find ways that you can get involved.

Many of our member organisations work to tackle environmental and climate issues - take a look on our members page for ideas of where to get started.
